Electronic and Communication Engineers contribute to the field of modern communications. Electronic control systems, Fiber-optic communications, satellite T.V. systems, mobile phones, data communications and other technical systems which transfer information from one place to other have major impact on both society and economics. The courses are interdisciplinary, drawing on computer studies, media studies, design studies, and other relevant disciplines.
The recent developments of multimedia and digital technology made digital TV, internet TV, mobile phone systems, speech recognition, e-learning, and video conferencing as a part of our daily life. The demand in the market for qualified personnel in digital communication systems is ever-growing. As the old analog systems are converted to digital and the new digital systems coming to implementation; more experts are needed in the area. The Electronics & Digital Communication engineering program focuses specialists in the field of applied ICT, especially in the field of digital communication. The Electronics & Digital Communication engineering provides knowledge in the field of electronics and digital communication adequate for a vocational engineer who will be trained to apply modern technology solutions.About Mission The mission of the Program of the Electronics and Digital Communication Engineering is essentially to provide professional training so the graduated engineers have universal acceptance, solid foundation, ability for learning and leadership during their lifetimes and of course strong ethical values. It is aimed to especially emphasize teamwork, independent and innovative thinking and leadership qualities. In particular, Electronics & Digital Communication Engineering Program aims to: " Train the students to have theoretical background in basic sciences and engineering and to be equipped with necessary technical skills, " Develop students' competency in reading, writing and oral communication, " Provide practical experience which will enable students to utilize and enhance their engineering knowledge, " Promote students' self-discipline and self-assurance and the ability to learn on their own, " Encourage team work, collaboration and development of interpersonal skills, " Motivate the students towards contributing to the progress of science and technology, " Teach the importance of ethical behavior in social and professional life, " Produce graduates for the engineering and the business communities who are observant, inquisitive and open to new technologies for developing better solutions, " Produce graduates for the engineering and business communities with integrity, determination, judgment, motivation, ability and education to assume a leadership role to meet the demanding challenges of the society. Program The Electronics & Digital Communication Engineering program is based on three year Bologna Bachelor Degrees. The first two semesters of the undergraduate program are designed for students to acquire a sound knowledge of the basic sciences, such as mathematics, physics, chemistry and algorithm, computer programming together with an understanding of economics, social sciences and humanities before specialization takes place. The third and fourth semesters cover the fundamental engineering subjects such as Fundamentals of the Electrical Circuits, Electromagnetic Field Theory, and Introduction to Electronics. All the major subjects of the Electronics and Digital Communication Engineering are completed in the fifth and sixth semesters. Among these subjects, Electronics, Television Technique & Digital TV, Digital Communication, TV Cameras && Image Recording, Logic Circuits, Mobile Communication Systems can be considered. In addition, the Professional English is given during all these three years. Summer Practice at the end of the second year aims to provide an Electronics & Digital Communication Engineering perspective to students. The Curriculum of the program includes elective courses, which give an opportunity to students to improve their professional skills according to their interests. Some of them are nontechnical and free elective courses, the remaining are technical electives. The students may specialize in the fields of circuits and systems, electronics power electronics, communications, signal processing, electromagnetic fields, microwave theory and techniques. The requirements for a Diploma in Electronics & Digital Communication Engineering include the completion of minimum of 180 ECTS credits of formal course work and 30 days of approved practical training. Prepare graduates who are capable of entering and succeeding in an advanced degree program in a field such as engineering, science, or business. Program Outcomes Program outcomes are statements that describe what students are expected to know and are able to do by the time of graduation, the achievement of which indicates that the student is equipped to achieve the program objectives. The Outcomes The outcomes for the Electronics & Digital Communication Engineering program are given below. 1. To Understand - to understand and master fundamentals of analog and digital circuit analysis and design, digital communications and transmissions, and use of appropriate hardware and software in building, testing, operation, and maintenance of electronics and digital communication systems. An understanding that engineering knowledge should be applied in an ethically responsible manner for the good of society. 2. To Question - to critically evaluate alternate assumptions, approaches, procedures, tradeoffs, and results related to engineering problems. 3. To Design - to design and troubleshooting a variety electronic, including theory, systems for applications including signal processing, communications, control systems, acquisition tools, and use of basic electronic measurement/testing equipment. 4. To Lead - to lead a small team of student engineers performing a laboratory exercise or design project; to participate in the various roles in a team and understand how they contribute to accomplishing the task at hand. 5. To Communicate - to use written and oral communications to document work and present project results.
