Course Description: | Refractories. Glass: manufacturing, various types and uses in construction. Lightweight aggregates. Fiber reinforced concrete. Ferrocement. Insulation methods of buildings for heat, sound and moisture. Asbestos. Paints. Fire regulations and risks. Concrete burning issue. Assessment of fire damaged buildings. |
Course Objectives: | The objective of this course is to provide advanced information and develop a basic understanding of key materials such as concrete, steel and other important types, as well as other innovative material used in the construction industry. A special focus is given to the requirements and related behavior characteristics of construction materials an their technology. |
