Course Description: Exploration of the legal foundation of planning practice and of organizational environments and administrative practices characterizing planning practice.
Course Objectives: The general aim of the course is to achieve a broad and holistic reflection in a range of different "special topics"; different but all linked to the general subject of "cities in transition". This is the way the course intends to deal the next issues of both city design and management; watching it through the various approaches and in its integration between the several layers in which city is shaped. The three special topics selected in this class are: 1 A Common City 2 The Smart City 3 Alternative Strategies and Tactics Just nowadays, we are assisting in the birth of new forms - sometimes very creative - of approach in designing and managing the complex system named city. The course will focus on three special topics that are experimenting some of those new approaches, with a deep (and diverse) sight on those good practices world widespread but with a strictly local oriented approach. The main aim is in searching a comparison among what is happening in Albania and in its Capital City Tirana and what it is succeeding outside.
