Course Description: The objective of this course is to develop reading, speaking and writing skills of students in French language.
Course Objectives: • This course is an introduction to the French language, and proposes activities that enable students to achieve competencies of understanding and written expression, at A1 and A2 level, according to the Common European Framework of Reference. Comprehension of simple texts and answering questions on them. To know how to introduce yourself, to describe your work, talk about tastes and hobbies and describe the past. How to write a postcard. Responding to simple and practical things. To communicate confidently on a basic level in everyday situations. Developing essential speaking, listening, reading and writing skills as well as a solid understanding of the structure of the language.

1 Dossier 0: Opening on. Alphabet. French names. Nationalities. Adjectives of nationality. Masculine and feminine of country names. Numbers. Accents. Spelling names. Exercises
2 Dossier 1: Leçon 1: Greetings, contacts, to introduce oneself. GRAMMAR: Verb “to have” in present tense, the negation, definite article, possessive adjectives. PHONETIC: Voice downlink – uplink. Exercises – Student book.
3 Dossier 1: Leçon 2: Request information. Questioning on the identity. Understanding / give coordinates. GRAMMAR: Indefinite article, Interrogative adjective. Months of the year. Numbers 70 to 99. Exercises.
4 Dossier 1: Leçon 3: Give personal information. Talk about passions and dreams. GRAMMAR: Prepositions with names of countries. –ER verbs in the present. Verbs “to have” & “to be”, to give personal information. The liaison. Carnet de voyage – Civilization.
5 Dossier 2: Leçon 1: Talk of the neighborhood and the city. Ask and give an explication. GRAMMAR: Definite & Indefinite articles. Preposition of place + contracted articles. UN / Une + a name (phonetic). Exercises.
6 Dossier 2: Leçon 2: To inform on the accommodation. Indicate a route. GRAMMAR: Interrogation. Verbs “to take” & “to get down” in the present tense. Intonation of interrogative and affirmative sentence. Exercises. GRAMMAR : Interrogation, Formula of route. PHONETIC : Intonation of the sentence interrogative and affirmative, Exercises.
7 Dossier 2: Leçon 3: Write a postcard. Indicate the province, the destination. GRAMMAR: Demonstrative adjectives. Preposition of origin & of destination. Formula of a letter. Ordinal numbers. Accentuation of last syllable. Practice. Exercises. Civilization: Paris, hier et aujourd'hui.

10 Dossier 3: Leçon 2: Talk about itself. Talk about the characteristics of a person. GRAMMAR: Qualifier adjectives in masculine/feminine/plural. “Aimer”, “Adorer”, “Detester” + noun/verb. Tonic pronoun. Exercises.
11 Dossier 3: Leçon 3: Invite/Accept/Refuse. Give someone an appointment. Writing a message/invitation. GRAMMAR: “Pouvoir”, “Vouloir”, “Devoir” in present tense. Pronoun “ON” The imperative. Civilization. Exercises.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
